The Technology Studio at SFAI is an interdisciplinary place for all art projects dealing with technology. It provides infrastructure for work involving electronics and prototyping, multi-channel sound, interaction, and virtual reality.

Berlin Exhibition Project: The Pacific Wall
In March 2017, students of San Francisco Art Institute travel to Berlin to meet with students of Bauhaus University Weimar. Together, they develop an exhibition at the Schillerpalais project space. The exhibition is accompanied by one evening of experimental interactions in the studio of ACUD. After the group returns to San Francisco digital re-configurations of the works shown in Berlin are presented in a show at the Invisible Gallery at SFAI.
Digitally Invisible at Wikitopia Festival Hong Kong
I am conducting a workshop on becoming “Digitally Invisible” at Wikitopia Festival Hong Kong.
Unreal Euglena Workshop
A BioArt/BioGaming workshop in cooperation with Thomas Hawranke about playing with microorganisms (Euglena gracilis). The workshop is held at Bauhaus University Weimar, working with the DIY bioloab at the chair of Media Environments. In the workshop, we discuss potential game mechanics for playing with living organisms, and we build a simple prototype connecting Euglena gracilis to the Unreal Engine via a microscope, video tracking and DIY electronics.

Cyber/space. Localizations in art and science
“Projektmodul” at Bauhaus-University Weimar (Media Environments)
The project examines “cyber” and “space” as technological and scientific fields and subjects of artistic practice: Cybernetics, computer art, interaction, networks and space are put into relation to each other in order to develop contemporary positions in art and design – projects dealing with real and mediated space and the interconnections between both.

Overview: Lectures and Seminars
Lectures and seminars at Köln International School of Design (KISD, as professor since 2018), San Francisco Art Institute (assistant professor 2015-2018), Bauhaus University Weimar (visiting professor in 2013), at the Department of Design of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (2013-2014), and at the Academy of Media Arts (KHM) Cologne (2006-2012). Courses vary from introductory to graduate level and comprise foundations of programming and physical computing for the arts, generative design and interaction design, as well as media art and design projects.
Lectures within the curriculum of these schools are accompanied by workshops conducted in cooperation with other institutions.
